Cold Fusion: The Only Star

DSC_9494

Moments have the power to redefine you, make you complete, change you for good. My one defining moment was when I first laid eyes on this girl, who is now my wife; I instinctively knew I’d never be the same person I was before I met her. My world revolves around her; she’s my rock, my soul-mate, my friend, my enemy, my everything, and I cannot imagine a life without her.

We celebrate our anniversary in October each year and every year, I do something special for her. The last year, however, was a different story as we were mainly focused on our new born son’s recovery. Nevertheless, I had something special planned since then and I just finished the whole thing. It comprises of a poem framed for her and a hand-crafted 3D paper model that ties in with the main theme of the poem. It may not be the most expensive gift but it certainly is original and straight from the heart. I can’t wait to see her reaction when I show it to her in the evening. Here are a few photos for your viewing pleasure.

The Only Star

DSC_7269

Falling down through life
With nothing to hold on to
About to crash and burn
Not a thing that I could do

As the darkness took me in
A ray of light came through
Love and hope it spread
And took me right to you

Since then it has been bright
There’s no sign of despair
Sunshine in the meadows
Rainbows everywhere

Gravity pulls me to you
I’m losing self-control
Destined to be together
Unite, be one, be whole

Life revolves around you
Nothing else is up to par
In this galaxy of mine
You are the only star

Lost in Translation

DSC_5896

My heart hears what your eyes have to say
There’s no need for any explanation
’cause if you put your feelings into words
Things might get lost in translation

Amidst all my insecurities you are
The only safe haven around
In this world full of strangers, fools and foes
Couldn’t be happier it’s you I found

As far as the whole wide world is concerned
Couldn’t care less or give a damn
You are the one who sees through my shell
And loves me for who I am

Never thought I had all this love in me
I Never felt this way before
Don’t know if this is possible but
with every breath I love you more

Entwined

Entwined

Entwined

It’s a cold cold world
A lot o’ hate and despair
Darkness out and about
Broken hearts everywhere

Ravens flyin’ high
Sucking all happiness
Turing everything fond
Into mere nothingness

Times sure have changed
Since you’ve been with me
You cleaned off the cobwebs
And set my soul free

I ain’t afraid no more
In this bleak winter tide
Sittin’ warm and content
’cause you’re by my side

Though the cold still lingers
The bright sun’s now out
And heat’s sure to follow
Of that there’s no doubt

Entwined with thy scent
Is the air that I breathe
We’ll both be alright
That I truly believe

To my wife: You are my light, my sunshine, my everything; thank you for lighting up my life with your love.

Hello, Winters!

http://weatheradvance.com/home/weather/weatheradvance.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/08/winter_landscape_1600.jpg

I can feel the winds changing
No need for fans anymore
Coats and blankets are all the rage
Winter’s right outside our door

Many of my readers won’t understand the significance winters have for me and my kinfolk, but for all of us living in hot humid areas, its the only two to three months we find solace from the sweaty, clammy summers.

Wishing you all a chilly winter; may your teeth chatter and may your bones rattle.

Cheers,
Yousuf
